科学コミュニケーション　第７回―第１０回

目的

・to provide participants an English lecture concerning a topic related to science.
・to have the participants discuss the implications of a scientific discovery and understand the conduct of scientific inquiry.

報告事項

The first lecture dealt with the discovery of the K-T boundary and the implications for the mass extinctions of the dinosaurs. Subsequent lectures dealt with the responses and refinements to the theory of dinosaur extinctions. The last was an illustration of how a scientific discovery is spread. The aim was to illustrate how even Darwin’s ideas an evolution and natural selection were not necessarily immediately accepted due to prevailing beliefs.
